School of Physical Education


School of Physical Education can be traced back to 1985. Currently, it consists of 3 main discipline directions: physical education, sports performance and sports entertainment & management. There are at present 71 staff members, including 10 professors and 38 associate professors, among whom 2 teachers have got their Doctoral Degree and 30 others their Master’s Degree. Of all the faculty members, 1 has been awarded the title of “Master Teacher of Fujian Province”, 2 have received the title of “International Referee”, 4 the title of “National Referee” and 3 the title of “National Social Sports Instructors”. Presently, the School has a student body of more than 1,000 undergraduates.

Over the recent years, remarkable achievements have been attained in both teaching and academic research. So far, the School has 1 Provincial Characteristic Specialty, 1 Excellent Teaching Team of Fujian Province and 2 Provincial Excellence Courses. What’s more, it has undertaken 1 item of National Research Project and more than 40 provincial or municipal research projects. Besides, 12 academic books and textbooks have been published and 2 provincial awards received for excellent achievements in philosophy and social sciences inFujian. Most strikingly, the School has composed a series of fitness dances which reflect Mazu culture, including Mazu dances, Mazu exercises and Mazu martial arts, which contributes to promoting the local culture.

In addition, the School also boasts outstanding undergraduates, who have won numerous awards in various sports competitions at both national and provincial levels, including 55 gold medals, 65 silver medals and 30 bronze medals. Besides, women’s cart-durm team was invited to perform at the opening and closing ceremony of the Sixth National Peasants Games and Shanghai Expo.
