In 2004, the combination of a hospital and a department was realized between the Affiliated Hospital of Putian University and the Department of Clinical Medicine of Putian University. The Affiliated Clinical School includes 14 teaching and research sections: Surgery, Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pharmacy, Imaging, Otolaryngology, Oral Science, Ophthalmology, Diagnostics, Infectious Diseases, Emergency Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Nursing; and 3 scientific research centers: Research Center for Osteology, Research Center for Tumors and Research Center for Cardiovascular. The department now has a reasonable arrangement of courses, among which medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology and pediatrics are key courses of the department. With the endorsement of the Ministry of Education, the department has enrolled five-year undergraduates majoring in clinical medicine since 2007. The department has 122 teachers, 32 of whom are lecturers on specialized fundamental courses and 90 are doctors from the affiliated hospital. Among them, 44 of them hold senior professional titles (5 professors) and 53 of them hold sub-senior professional titles (50 associate professors).
